MSP Workshop: How People Learn - June 27-29, 2004

Description

The National Academies and the National Science Resources Center are pleased to invite you and your MSP colleagues to participate in an interactive workshop on learning that will be held in Washington, D.C. on. June 27-29. The schedule has been changed and this is the last workshop that will be held on cognition and human learning this year.

The National Research Council's 2000 report, How People Learn: Brain, Mind, Experience, and School: Expanded Edition will serve as the central focus of these sessions. Other activities illustrating how the research is synthesized in How People Learn and other NRC reports (e.g., Knowing What Students Know, Adding It Up) can be applied to the work being done by MSPs also will be a major theme of the workshop.

Participants will receive a free CD-ROM containing How People Learn and 12 other NRC education reports pertinent to human learning, cognition, reading and early childhood education, and the learning and teaching of mathematics and science. The agenda for the workshop, our goals and objectives, and a registration form are available below.

There is no registration fee for this workshop. We will provide dinner on Sunday night and breakfast and lunch on the second and third days of the workshop. All other expenses incurred for travel, lodging, and dinners are the individual responsibility of each partnership project.

Other workshops planned for this year will focus on teacher education (July, 2004) and the changing role of higher education in professional development (December, 2004).

Hotel and logistical information will be provided after we receive your registration.
